Course Care

How to Care For the Course

Eastlake Golf Course is in the best condition in decades. Please help us to maintain the current standard of the course by observing some tips on course care as seen in the video below.

Bunkers

  • Before leaving a bunker, a player should carefully fill up and smooth over all holes and footprints, and then leave the rake with the handle pointing toward the tee of the hole being played
  • Always enter the bunker at the lowest point
  • Pull rake toward you as you exit the bunker
  • If required, rake other affected areas
  • Do not pile sand at the edge of the bunker. Push back excess sand
  • Do not rake the face of the bunker. Smooth out with the back of rake
  • Always leave rake in the flat of the bunker with the handle parallel to the line of flight of the hole being played with the handle pointing back towards the tee. Rakes should be placed as far from the edge as possible

Repairing Ball Marks

  • Always start at the back of the mark and push forward with the repairer
  • Use repairer around all sides and slowly ease turf toward the centre of the mark. Do not lift the soil upwards
  • Lightly tap down with putter
  • Your completed repair should look like this

Repairing Divots

  • Always start at the back of the divot and push forward with the club head. Cover with 'green divot sand'
  • Use clubhead around all sides and slowly ease turf toward the centre of the divot. Do not lift the soil upwards
  • Lightly tap down with foot or clubhead to smooth area out

Damage to Greens

  • Players and caddies should ensure they cause no damage to the green when putting down bags or the flagstick. They should not stand too close to the hole when handling the flagstick or removing the ball. Replace the flagstick on leaving the green.
  • Don't drop the flagstick on the putting surface as it will cause damage
  • Always lower the flagstick by club....or by hand
  • Avoid damage to surrounds by placing the stick in the centre of the cup
