Eastlake Senior Open

The Eastlake Senior Open was contested last Tuesday 4th July with a large field of 70 players. Rain threated throughout the morning, however conditions held up to allow all competitors to complete their round.

The course was once again presented in terrific condition by Simon and his team, and the greens maintained their usual speed despite the inclement weather.

The winner of the day was Andy Hugill from Mona Vale GC with a Gross score of 72, beating Mark Hale from Mudgee GC by 2 strokes. Andy was superintendent at Eastlake GC twenty years ago and his local knowledge came in handy. Congratulations Andy!

The Super Seniors (Over 65) Category was won by local stalwart and Club member Chris Hicks, with a very competitive score of 77 scratch.

Another notable local was Bobby Farrugia who also had 77 off the stick and came 2nd in the Nett division, only losing by countback. Bobby also picked up a NTP prize so was a productive day for him. Congratulations Chris and Bobby!

GUR Behind 1st Green

Simon and his team have been hard at work this week tiding up the area behind the first green and laying new turf.

The area where new turf has been laid, will be a compulsory GUR until it establishes. If you happen to find yourself in this area, you must take relief within one club length, at the nearest point, no nearer the hole.

6th Hole Closed - Hole 2B in play

The 6th hole will be closed on Tuesday 11 July to remove the dead pine trees in the right hand rough at the botton of the hill.

Hole 2B will be open on this day, and players are asked to please take care and avoid the areas where tree removal is taking place.

Putting Clinic

On Tuesday 18th July, Alex, Tom and James will be running a putting clinic. The clinic consists of 3 modules, short putts, green reading and speed control. This will surely be a great clinic to most of our members, especially  with the current speed of our greens. If you are interested in registering, see Alex, Tom or James in the Pro Shop.
