Club Newsletter | Thursday 24th August 2023

New booking and cancellation policy changes comes into effect today.

A reminder to members that the tee draw for weekend timesheets will now be conducted on Thursdays, starting today at 6pm. We will open the timesheets of Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd September.

The timesheet will then open online 1 hour later, at 7pm for any member that is unable to attend the draw at the clubhouse.

The new cancellation policy also comes into effect today. This means swaps for weekend tee times will not be allowed after 5pm on Thursdays. Swaps will only be allowed after 5pm on Thursdays if there are no members in the waitlist requesting a tee time at that time.

Members will now have until 7pm the day prior to cancel their weekend tee time. Cancellations after 7pm will still be charged the $14 competition fee, regardless of the reasons for cancelling. Members that do not show up for their tee time, and don't notify the pro shop, will be charged the $14 competition fee plus an additional fine of $36, totalling $50.

Foursomes R1 Results

The 2023 edition of the Foursomes Championships was played under difficult windy conditions last Saturday.

Drew Ferguson and Tom Fisher were unfazed by the conditions and shot a great score of 5 over par, 77 to take the lead in A Grade.

Matthew Hicks and Wayne Lonergan got onto a great start on the front 9 and managed a great score of 79 to lead A reserve comfortably by 8 strokes.

Aleks Velkovski and Mick Kelly have a slim lead in B grade where there is very little separation between the 1st and 9th ranked teams.

In C grade, John Stanley and John Kyriazis have some breathing room, carrying a 6 stroke lead into the final round.

Good luck to all players playing Round 2 this Saturday.

ROUND 1 RESULTS

Father's Day Lunch at Eastlake GC

Celebrate all dads in your life by treating them (or being treated to) a delicious 2 course lunch at Eastlake GC. Cost per person is $55.

Bookings can be made by emailing operations@eastlakegolfclub.com.au or calling 02 9663 1374

Spring Green and Fairway Renovations

The course will be closed on Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th September for green renovations. As most of you already know, green coring and aeration is vital for the health of the playing surfaces.

Similarly, fairway scarifying will begin the second week of September. The 4th hole will be closed on Tuesday 12th and 19th September.

We are looking forward to the growing season as our course promises to look better than ever this summer.

Local Rule Clarification

It was mentioned to us that some members still believe they are entitled to free relief if their ball is lying on or close to a tree root. Whilst this was a local rule a few years ago, it has been since removed and players must play the ball as it lies.

Eastlake's local rules can be found on the back of scorecards and also in the menu of the MiScore app.
