Pace of Play Tags

Members are reminded to collect their Pace of Play tag from the Pro Shop if they haven't yet done so and to display the tag on their golf bags.

These tags monitor a player's position as they move around the course and allow staff to monitor the pace-of-play for club competitions.

Generally, the pace-of-play amongst members at Eastlake Golf Club is quite good, with our average competition times being 4 hours and 18 minutes during September.

Club Championships

Members are reminded to get their entry form in for the 2023 Club Championships, to be held on the first two weekends of November. There will be a cut after 36 holes, with the top 12 players and ties in each grade qualifying for the 3rd round on Saturday, 11 November. The final round will see the top 8 players plus ties in each grade play on Sunday, 12 November to decide our 2023 Club Champions.

2023 Club Championships Registration Form

The 2023 Women’s Club Championships will be contested over 36-holes on Sunday 5 and Sunday 12 November, with tee times to be reserved for those eligible competitors.

Course Safety Update

A very brief update to our proposed works to reduce the number of balls leaving the property.

A DA was lodged with Bayside Council proposing a realignment of the 6th hole which required resumption of part of the 'environmentally sensitive area' on the right side of the tee and the fairway as you walk down the hill.

Council have requested Ecology and Heritage reports due to the critically endangered Eastern Suburbs Banksia in that area as the whole course is heritage listed. The ecologists who visited the site a few weeks back have indicated that as things stand a Biodiversity Development Assessment Report would be required which could take up to a year to complete and at a significant cost.

We've engaged archaeologists to visit the course later this month.

Bridge Update

A brief history.

The bridge was built circa 2006 after extended legal proceedings between the club and the then Botany Council.

A 15 year tri-partite agreement detailing how the bridge was to be managed was signed between council, the club and our advertising partners who funded construction. That agreement included council receiving a share of the advertising and charging the club a 'crossing fee'.

That agreement envisioned new separate agreements for the advertising between council and the advertisers and a crossing deed between the club and council.

Post construction, the club has used our advertisers legal representative as our interests were aligned and the club received no income up to circa 2019.

Recent legal rulings suggest the club and our advertising partners interests are no longer aligned so the club is seeking its own advice aware that potential income is limited.
