Medal Postponed

Tomorrow's competition will instead be a Stableford competition off the Blue and White tees, with carts unavailable and all bunkers GUR.

Mark Wahlberg

Mark Wahlberg visits Eastlake

Members playing the course on Good Friday would have been forgiven for thinking they were in Hollwood, having shared the fairways with action hero Mark Wahlberg.

Mark is currently in Australia filming a movie, and being an avid golfer has played a number of Sydney's top courses in recent weeks.

Mark was hosted on the day by Eastlake member Sol Fotu Moala and must have enjoyed his game at the Club as he's expressed interest in returning for another game in the future.

Solar

Capital Works Update

Members are advised on the progress of the following Capital Work Projects under consideration or recently approved by the Board:

- Clubhouse Roof: Following heavy storms earlier this year, it became evident that there were several leaks in the Clubhouse roof. Recent inspection has revealed that the roof is in need of repair or possibly replacement and management is compiling quotes for consideration by the Board.

- Solar Installation: Members will no doubt be aware of the significant increase in electricity prices over the past twelve months. With prices predicted to increase further and with an eye to the Club's Strategic goal of sustainability, the Board recently made the decision to invest in solar for the Clubhouse, Pro Shop and Kitchen. It is expected that the installation of these panels will commence within the next few months, with the Club to benefit from electricity savings in the future.

- Car Park: Following the removal of the Coral Tree during the recent course renovations, the Club has sourced several quotes for the repair of this area of the car park along with several other spots in need of patching up. The Club is currently working with these asphalt suppliers to coordinate a suitable period for them to come in and repair the damaged areas.

- Cart Paths: With the cart paths now complete from the 15th green to the 17th tee and the 3rd green to the 4th tee, our focus now turns to the cart paths of the 13th hole. A turning circle and path will be installed beside the 13th tee and the existing gravel path to the left and behind the 13th green will be concreted in the same manner as our new pathways. A date for the commencement of this work is currently being locked in and members will be updated with any course changes as a result of this work.

Charlie Watts

Easter Winners

Congratulations to Eastlake GC members Patrick Rafferty and Charlie Watts who were the big winners over the Easter long weekend.

Patrick claimed victory in the Easter Cup, a 36-hole aggregate competition from rounds on Easter Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Patrick's score of 79 points saw him finish one clear of Zaven Hekimian and claim the $100 prize voucher.

Charlie Watts was the lucky winner of the Easter Egg raffle held in the Club over the weekend, open to any member or guest who spent $20 or more on a meal from the Bistro. Charlie can be seen pictured (left) receiving his prize.

Member House Accounts

Members are reminded that they have until June 30th to redeem their 2023 / 24 House Account within the Club (unused credit will be cancelled on this date)

The aim of the bar tab is to encourage clubhouse visitation; however, members may use their house account to purchase packaged drinks (note this excludes packaged beer sold by the 'carton').

Member's unsure of their current house balance can ask our friendly bar staff or view their balance under the 'My Information' tab of the Club website.

Renovated Greens

Green Renovations Recovery

Members will appreciate the quick recovery we have seen on the greens following the renovations on the 18th and 19th March. The greens received their first cut last week at 4mm and they have been cut to 3.5mm this week.

Aside from aiding the health of the plant, this process firms the greens up heading into the cooler months which should reduce the prevalence of balls marks on the greens.

Social Media

Social Media Policy

The Board is pleased to announce a new Social Media policy to provide guidelines for the appropriate use of social media platforms by Club members, staff, contractors and volunteers.

This policy ensures individuals use social media (as it relates to the Club) in a responsible and respectful manner, and in a way that will reflect the values and reputation of the Club.

Cart Safety

Members using golf carts on the course are reminded of the following guidelines for their own safety and that of others:

- Steep slopes: Carts should not be driven up, down or across slopes of more than 20 degrees. The wheelbase of golf carts is insufficient to tackle slopes greater than this and there is a risk of the cart tipping and causing injury and / or property damage.

- Directional Signage: Carts should be driven in the same manner as a car, with golfers required to abide by cart and directional signage at all times.

- Speed: Whilst the speed of our carts is governed, cart users should still exercise caution and drive at an appropriate speed around bends and slopes.

If used responsibly, our golf cart fleet can be of tremendous help navigating one's way around the course.
