The Club is pleased to advise members that carts will once again be permitted on-course from today (Friday 12th July). The decision to cancel carts is never taken lightly and was made purely because of the likely damage that would have been caused to those holes where surface water takes longer to dissipate. The course team have been working hard on these fairways, using the coring machine to punch holes in the fairway to assist with drainage however the effect of this work is slow when the soil is as oversaturated as it has been recently.
Another method the course team has employed recently has been the roping off of problem areas to direct cart and walking traffic away from the wetter areas. It is disappointing to hear that an individual has taken it upon themselves to cut these ropes, which sadly leads to traffic venturing into areas meant to be avoided and creates additional work for the course team. We would ask all golfers to please respect course signage and property, so that these areas might recover quicker for the benefit of all.
Finally, we thank those members who often require a cart for their patience during this period, and the efforts of all members in repairing divots, pitch marks and general course care during these wet, winter months.
