Carts Back On-Course from Friday 12th July

The Club is pleased to advise members that carts will once again be permitted on-course from today (Friday 12th July). The decision to cancel carts is never taken lightly and was made purely because of the likely damage that would have been caused to those holes where surface water takes longer to dissipate. The course team have been working hard on these fairways, using the coring machine to punch holes in the fairway to assist with drainage however the effect of this work is slow when the soil is as oversaturated as it has been recently.

Another method the course team has employed recently has been the roping off of problem areas to direct cart and walking traffic away from the wetter areas. It is disappointing to hear that an individual has taken it upon themselves to cut these ropes, which sadly leads to traffic venturing into areas meant to be avoided and creates additional work for the course team. We would ask all golfers to please respect course signage and property, so that these areas might recover quicker for the benefit of all.

Finally, we thank those members who often require a cart for their patience during this period, and the efforts of all members in repairing divots, pitch marks and general course care during these wet, winter months.

Eastlake Seniors Open

Eastlake Seniors Open

Congratulations to Sean Herden (Shelly Beach GC) who claimed victory last week in the Eastlake Senior Open. Sean returned an even par round of 71 to finish three shots clear of Buddy Nagi (Kogarah GC) in second place.

The event was a big success with over 80 players participating, and the heavy rain predicted holding off for the event. Feedback on the day was very positive, with many competitors commenting on the speed and challenge of the Club's greens.

The final leader board for the event can be found below and with Sean and Buddy pictured with their trophy following the event (left):

Cock O' The Walk Qualifying

Members are reminded that this Saturday is the Cock O' The Walk qualifying round, with the top four pairs qualifying for the fourball knockout stage. The semi and final matches will be played over the next two Saturdays, and the event is open to all full (seven day) members.

Members interested in qualifying should ensure their name is beside that of their partner on the timesheet prior to teeing off, with the Office to contact the successful teams early next week to finalize the match play draw.

Range

Club Practice Facilities

Members are advised that the gate off Wentworth Avenue to the Practice Range is closed of an afternoon once the Halfway House has closed. Members may still practice after this time, but their vehicle needs to be parked outside the gate to enable it to be locked. This safety precaution is in place to prevent damage to the course caused by cars and public entering the property after staff have left for the day.

For those using the practice facilities, we ask that players avoid 'lobbing' balls onto the putting surfaces to avoid unnecessary damage and fill their divots with sand at the conclusion of their practice.

Golf Ball

Reporting Balls Hit OOB

Members should be aware that Golf Australia maintains a Player's Personal Liability Insurance Policy for all members of affiliated golf clubs. This policy covers the legal liability of members to pay compensation for personal injury or property damage which occurs while playing or practicing golf as a player, guest or spectator.

The Club receives several related claims from neighbors each year, and in order to lodge a claim for these expenses, we need to know the identity of the member who hit the shot.

The member doesn't face any excess or penalty for the wayward shot (beyond the stroke and distance penalty), and as such we request that members notify the Office immediately of where and what time you hit the ball and what damage or injury you think you might have been caused.
