Following a week of sunny weather, it is pleasing to see progress has been made on several projects around the course:
- 4th / 15th hole Drainage: Drainage catchment pits are in the process of being installed in the sandy bank between the 4th and 15th fairways. These pits will allow water to dissipate more quickly, reducing the risk of sandy wash outs and native grass species will be introduced to stabilize the bank.
- Gardens on the 5th & 8th holes: The garden along the 5th hole pathway has been mulched and had coir logs installed to address erosion, whilst the gardens on the 8th have had invasive lantana removed. The Club's arborist was also on-site this week to remove several species along the 8th hole boundary fence.
- Turfing along Concrete Paths: Work has recently been completed in turfing the areas surrounding the new paths beside the 15th green and 16th tee, along with the installation of more drainage around the 16th tee.
With the lack of grass growth during winter, this is the ideal time of year to allocate staff to these projects with the more substantial work being performed on quieter Tuesdays. On those rare occasions where additional time is required to ensure staff safety, temporary courses have been introduced in an attempt to allow competition play to continue without disturbing the work sites.
