Tee Draw Survey

Following regular correspondence to the Board relating to the weekly tee draw, the Board has decided to seek member feedback as to their preference for the weekend tee time booking system.

To this end, a short two-minute survey has been prepared for members to provide their thoughts. The survey is confidential and will be sent via email to all eligible six- and seven-day members in the coming days. Once the responses have been compiled, they will then be presented to the Board for consideration.

Warren & Gibson Pennant

Our Club's Warren & Gibson Pennant teams are well placed at the halfway mark of the season, after two weeks of away matches. After a tie in round 2, the Warren (B Grade) side had a narrow loss on the weekend at Bexley (2-1), whilst the Gibson (C Grade) has had consecutive 2-1 losses in the last two away matches.

Both teams are looking forward to returning to Eastlake this week against Bexley, with the following home and away matches against Cumberland likely to determine the team(s) chance of progressing to the knockout stage. The results and standings can be found by clicking on the links below:

Cock O' The Walk Winners

Cock O' The Walk Final

Congratulations to the pair of Stephen O’Brien and Patrick Clarke who won the Cock O’ The Walk title on the weekend with a 6 & 5 victory over Marcus Alexander and Wilson Imrie.

Saturday’s final was played under cold and wet conditions, however Stephen and Patrick both handled the conditions with ease and proved too strong for their opponents.

The pair (pictured) will soon see their names join past champions on the honor board within the Clubhouse and we congratulate them on their success.

Course Work

This week has seen plenty of work completed by our course team with the installation of drainage pits in the bank between the 4th and 15th fairways (pictured right).

The purpose of these pits is to capture excess water during periods of intense rain and allow it to drain away without washing out the bank. The bank will now be planted out with native grasses to stabilize it, and the areas under the pine trees mulched.

Members will also notice that several pine trees approved for removal as part of the Club's Course Safety plans have been removed from the base of the hill on the fourth hole (pictured below). The three pine trees on the right side of the image will be removed in September, with the plan for this hole seeing the top of the hill planted out with shrubs, and the area where the trees were to be levelled off and cut to fairway height, taking the neighboring houses out of play.

Course Care

Members are reminded that with turf dormant through winter, divots, pitch marks and cart / buggy damage take significantly longer to repair.

As the attached image shows, practicing from the same spot on a green can cause significant wear and we would ask the putting devotee to please rotate their putting drills around the green to distribute wear in the future.

Members are requested to be vigilant during this winter period, in repairing their pitch marks, raking the bunkers and filling their divots with sand.

Daily Pace of Play

Members are reminded that the Club continues to track the Pace of Play for the field on a daily basis and send letters to those groups finishing behind the group in front. The image below is a snapshot of a recent daily Pace-of-Play report which shows the early groups completing their rounds is less than the guideline of 3 hours 40 minutes, and the steady increase in round times as the morning progresses.

Whilst group 25 (10:04am) completed their round in 4 hours 19 minutes, this could have been even faster had groups 5, 8 and 11 managed to complete their round within 10 minutes of the group in front as per the Club's Pace-of-Play policy.

We hope the image below shows members the effects one or more 'slow' groups can have on the rest of the field and make every effort to maintain the position in the field directly behind the group in front.
