Player's Championship

Eastlake Player's Championship

Since February, the Eastlake Players Championship has been quietly taking shape, with members competing weekly to accrue points based on their best score for the week. Now, with less than two months to go, the competition is entering its most crucial phase, and the race for the top 12 spots is wide open.

Phillip Emder, Anthony Ippodimonte, and Brendon Olander are on the verge of securing their places in the final, having performed consistently throughout the season. However, the remaining 9 spots are still up for grabs, making the coming weeks vital for anyone hoping to qualify.

The season will officially conclude on Saturday, 30th November, when the top 12 players will advance to the Final on Saturday, 14th December. In a format inspired by the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup, the higher-ranked players begin the final with an advantage, receiving extra Stableford points. Members can check their position on the leaderboard and gauge how much ground they need to make up by clicking the link below:

Renovations

Course Renovations

Monday and Tuesday will see the commencement of the Spring green renovation program, with the course team planning to first verti-drain the greens to improve drainage before the removal of a 16mm hollow tine as part of the 'coring' process. This process will then be followed by the sanding of the greens using USGA sand, and the application of fertilizer and soil amendments.

The process is demonstrated in the attached image and is quite labor intensive, however necessary if we wish to maintain the superb putting surfaces the Club is becoming known for. In the weeks following the green renovations, the team will look to also renovate fairways, with the renovation of tees scheduled for after the Club Championships to ensure the quickest recovery.

Course Renovations

Members are reminded that Course renovations are scheduled for Monday 9th and Tuesday 10th March.

The Course and Pro Shop will be closed on these days and the Clubhouse will be open each day from 4pm. Parking within the car park is likely to be affected at this time with the presence of a crane onsite for the solar installation and the arborist working in the area.

Warren & Gibson Pennant

Commiserations to the Club's Warren (B Grade) Pennant side who were narrowly beaten last weekend in the elimination round of this year's competition by Randwick Golf Club. The team finished a top their division after the round robin section, however their match at Massey Park was decided on a playoff hole with Randwick unfortunately prevailing.

The Club's Gibson (C Grade) side finished their year with a win at home against Cumberland, and whilst not successful in progressing to the knockout stage they acquitted themselves admirably throughout the season.

We congratulate both teams on their efforts this year and thank those members who gave up their time to represent the Club in these competitions.

Clubhouse Roof Replacement

Eastlake Golf Club would like to thank member James Blair and his company Bondi Roofing for their work replacing the roof of the Clubhouse and Pro Shop. This project involved replacing many of the old, rusted roof sheets, removal of the obsolete air conditioning units and hot water systems ahead of the installation of solar panels next week.

Although improvements to the clubhouse roof and the installation of solar may not be immediately noticeable, they represent a forward-thinking investment in the Club’s long-term future. Installation of solar panels will commence next week in conjunction with the course renovations and will significantly cut down on the Club's electricity expenses in the years to come and help meet our sustainability goals.
