13th Hole Pathway

13th Hole Cart Path

Members are advised that work is booked to commence on the 13th hole cart path from Monday 28th October. This work was planned for earlier in the year but delayed due to the frequent and heavy rain in May and June.

The work planned involves construction of a path adjacent to the tee with a turning circle for carts and an additional 130 meters of path from the top of the hill around the left and rear of the 13th green. In order to complete this project in the time permitted and to ensure golfer and contractor safety, there will be hole closures during the construction, with temporary and spare holes (2B, 9B and 10B) in use in the interim.

It is anticipated that all construction work will be completed prior to the Club Championship qualifying rounds (Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th November), with adjacent turfing and tie in to be completed later in the summer. Local rules for relief from this area will be conveyed to members once the work is complete and we look forward to this project enhancing one of the iconic holes at Eastlake GC.

Greater Sydney Landcare

Native Tree Planting

Members will have no-doubt have seen the native tree / shrub planting along the left-hand side of the 4th fairway and along the 18-hole boundary with Astrolabe Park. Over 3000 native species were planted by Greater Sydney Landcare volunteers, with assistance provided by Rob Blain (GM) and Simon Blagg (Course Superintendent) along with his young family.

The Club has a number of other areas where additional tree planting is planned early in the New Year to support the Course Safety Plans and improve the health and sustainability of the site.

6th Hole Tree Works

Although Council is currently reviewing the Club’s Course Safety development plans, the removal of trees on the right side of the sixth fairway, which had previously been approved was carried out this week. We continue to work through the development approval process, however in the meantime the removal of these pine trees has opened up the right side of the hole, which should encourage golfers to aim away from the houses now and in the future.

Members are advised that the areas where trees have been removed and the piles of bark chips are deemed 'Course Staff Work', with golfers permitted free relief at the nearest point of relief, no-nearer the hole.

6th Hole

Members are permitted free relief from the piles of bark chips and areas where trees have been removed, no closer to the hole.

New Blue Flags to be Introduced

Breast Cancer Day

Charity Donation

Following the successful running of the Breast Cancer Charity Day last month, the Club is pleased to announce $6.5k was donated to this most worthy cause. This money was raised through the competition fee of the day, the selling of raffle tickets on the day and the silent auction at the conclusion of the event.

It’s wonderful that the Club is able to support such a worthy cause and special thanks to those who donated prizes for the event. Thank you also to Andres Michelsen and Anne Tilbury for all their hard work bringing this day to fruition.
