Weekend Booking System

We extend our sincere thanks to all members who provided their thoughts and feedback in relation to our weekend booking system. Your feedback provided valuable insights into member perspectives on the weekly tee draw process.

While there was clear interest in an online system, the board carefully weighed all factors, including the financial benefits the tee draw brings to the club, the social engagement it fosters by bringing members together each week and the value of upholding club traditions.

Taking these points and the responses of members into consideration, the board has made the difficult decision to retain the in-person tee draw for now, with a commitment to monitor its support among members over time.

Thank you for your input and ongoing involvement in shaping our club's direction.

NSW Golf Industry Awards

We are thrilled to announce that Eastlake Golf Club has been nominated for the Metropolitan Club of the Year Award at the NSW Golf Industry Awards, to be held on Monday, 11 November.

This nomination reflects the Club's significant achievements over the past 12 months, including infrastructure improvements such as cart paths and the chipping green restoration work, sustainability efforts like the 4th hole drainage project, mass native planting initiatives, the installation of our 100kW solar panel system, and a net profit of a $211k for 2023/24.

Further, the Club's commitment to inclusivity, in becoming a signatory of the R&A Women in Golf Charter, improved member engagement and course enhancements have all contributed to this recognition. We are also proud to share that our General Manager, Rob Blain, has been nominated for the PGA's NSW Management Professional of the Year Award. These nominations are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff, board and members, which will be recognized on the evening of the awards dinner.

13th Hole Pathway

13th Hole Cart Path Update

We're excited to announce the completion of our new cart path on the 13th hole this week! The first section begins beside the tee, featuring a turning circle and extends to the front of the tee.

The second, longer stage starts from atop the hill, wrapping around the back of the green and includes a rear exit ramp and a new drop zone. Finally, a smaller pad was added around the pump shed on Hole 12 to support the new bore system.

The paths will be ready for use in time for this weekend's medal, with additional landscaping planned for the path edges in the coming months to blend the path seamlessly into the surrounds.

We hope members enjoy the new improvements!

Competiton Booking Cancellations

Members are kindly reminded of the importance of cancelling their golf bookings in advance to allow fellow members the opportunity to play. Unfortunately, last weekend saw fifteen members fail to cancel their bookings, either online or by notifying the Pro Shop. In addition to the $50 fine charged to these members, this practice prevents others from enjoying the course and participating in Club competitions.

We encourage all members to cancel any booking they cannot attend before the timesheet closes at 7:00 pm the night prior or, if necessary, to call the Pro Shop on the day. This courtesy ensures that any open spots can be offered to members on the waitlist. Those on the waitlist keen for a game are welcome to attend the Club on the day, and the Pro Shop staff will look to fit you into a spot should a vacancy arise.

Mixed Foursomes

Mixed Foursomes Results

Congratulations to the pair of Anne Maguire and Jason Freudenreich who maintained their four-shot lead in winning the Mixed Foursomes Championships last weekend.

Their two-round score of 185 (90, 95) saw them finish four shots clear of runners up Anne Tilbury and Ben Parry, with Matthew Zee and Lindy Schwaiger finishing third. The final leaderboard can be found below:

Mixed Pennant Nominations

We are now seeking nominations for members who would like to participate in the upcoming Mixed Pennant Season. The regular season will run from Sunday, 19th January to Sunday, 16th February and onto the start of March if the team make it to the finals. This season, Eastlake will compete against Monash, Cronulla, Muirfield and Cabramatta Golf Clubs.

If you are interested in representing Eastlake in this exciting series, please submit your nomination to Andres Michelsen (operations@eastlakegolfclub.com.au) as soon as possible.

We look forward to a great season of competition!

Staff Fire Safety Training

Our staff recently completed comprehensive Fire Warden & Fire Extinguisher Training, reinforcing the Club's ongoing commitment to the health and safety of its members and staff. The training provided practical, hands-on experience, allowing staff to safely practice using fire extinguishers to fight and suppress a fire. It was an engaging and valuable experience, and our team enjoyed the opportunity to gain these essential skills, ensuring they are prepared should such a situation ever arise in the future. This course is just one of the many training initiatives we organize to prioritize safety at our Club.

Scott Robertson wins Killara Cup

Congratulations to Eastlake GC member Scott Robertson who claimed victory in last Sunday's 2024 Killara Cup.

In what was the second consecutive year an Eastlake member has won the competition (Harley Holohan in 2023), Scott returned a 4 under par round to win the title.

Scott's round featured four birdies and no bogeys, which combined with his five under round at Eastlake the day prior meant he played the weekend in 9 under par and bogey-free.

We congratulate Scott on his fine performance and on representing the Club with such distinction.

Flag Colors

Blue Flags to be Introduced

Members are reminded that from tomorrow's Medal round the white flags on course will be replaced with new blue flags. The white flags were found to show dirt and discolor quicker than the existing red and yellow flags. Flag colors will indicate the following:

Red Flag - Front
Blue Flag - Middle
Yellow Flag - Back

Peter Stemi Memorial Golf Day

The annual Peter Stemi Memorial Golf Day is an event that is held in memory of our late captain Peter Stemi.  To date we have run this event in conjunction with the Coogee Boys Prep School (CPS) as part of their Annual Golf Day. The event brings together the school's community, including Peter's sons William and Chris Stemi who are both CPS Old Boys and EGC members, together with Peter's family, friends and fellow ECG members.

As the event continues to grow, we are keen to turn it into a charity day in Peter's name with proceeds going to the Heart Foundation

Peter was an avid health and fitness minded person who was living life to the fullest, yet unaware that he was also living with heart disease. He tragically died at the age of 56 after suffering a heart attack while exercising. Heart disease is a leading cause of death in Australia and being aware of our heart health is vital at any life stage, especially as we age.  We're hoping that the golf day in Peter's memory will continue to grow and shed more light on the importance of being 'heart health aware' so that more lives can be saved.

We hope that you can join us in making this day big enough to raise this awareness among our members and friends.
