Major Pennants

Congratulations to our Major Pennant team, who fought hard and were victorious in their recent semi-final match against Randwick at Oak Point Golf Club (formerly Liverpool GC). The team's incredible performance has secured their spot in the final at Riverside Oaks on Sunday, 30th March, where they will face off against Cabramatta Golf Club.

The team knew the challenge ahead, with Randwick being undefeated this season, but they rose to the occasion and delivered a commanding performance. Quickly winning four out of the first five matches, the team couldn't be beaten, and the remaining matches were deemed halved, resulting in a 5.5 to 1.5 victory. This impressive result not only means the team progresses to the final but also guarantees their promotion to Division 2 next year - a fantastic achievement!

Individual Results from the Semi-Final:

  • Scott Robertson halved Michael Williams
  • Harley Holohan halved Ben Leach
  • Matthew Xu defeated Rhys Fernandes 4 & 3
  • Scott Campbell defeated Adam Pustetto 3 & 2
  • Pearse Donnelly halved Michael Todd
  • Peter Tunks defeated Peter Cox 3 & 2
  • Tom Fisher defeated Craig McMahon 2 & 1

Final Score: Eastlake Golf Club 5.5 - 1.5 Randwick

The final against Cabramatta will be held at Riverside Oaks (from 9:20am), and we are all behind our team as they aim to bring the pennant flag home to Eastlake! We wish the team the best of luck for the final, and we can't wait to see them make us proud on Sunday, 30th March.

Course Renovations Update

Members will be pleased to hear the planned March green renovations were completed without incident on Monday, 17th March to Wednesday, 19th March. During this process, each green was cored to improve airflow and root penetration. The cores were then carefully collected by hand, and a layer of sand was applied to enhance drainage and allow water to penetrate deeper into the roots. The greens were then dusted with fertilizer and amendments to ensure their continued health and longevity.

In addition to the green renovations, the new fairway bunker has been installed on the 5th hole, an area of lomandra removed and the obsolete bunkers and greenside grassy hollow filled in. The new bunker edges and surrounding areas are expected to be turfed early next week, and the hole will remain out of play until this work is completed.

We've also commenced renovations at the Halfway House and toilet facilities, as well as arborist work on various sites around the course to ensure everything is looking its best. The photos of these improvements can be seen below, showcasing the results of all the hard work that has gone into enhancing our facilities.

Eastlake Golf Club’s Commitment to Member Safety

Last week saw several of our staff members complete their CPR refresher training and it is a timely reminder to members of the significant investment Eastlake Golf Club has made in ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone on the course and in the Club.

In addition to having first aid kits in each department, the Club has equipped the premises with two defibrillators - one located in the Clubhouse and another at the Halfway House (Code 1932). These defibrillators are critical pieces of equipment that are available should an emergency arise.

To further enhance safety, the Club has ensured that a large number of staff members have undergone comprehensive training, including First Aid, Armed Hold Up, and Fire Warden training. In addition, the Club has invested in a Critical Incident Response Action Plan, which is now placed in the first aid kits across the property. This action plan provides clear instructions for First Aid responders, including:

  • The nearest point of access for emergency response personnel
  • Directions for DRSABCD (Dangers, Response, Send for Help, Airway, Breathing, CPR, Defibrillation)
  • The Chain of Survival
  • Instructions for responding to common injuries, including strains, sprains, snake bites, and anaphylaxis

Members are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the course map (below) to better assist in case of an emergency. Knowing where the nearest access points are for emergency services and understanding the procedures can make all the difference in responding quickly and effectively.

Your safety is our priority, and we continue to invest in the infrastructure, training, and resources needed to provide the best possible environment for everyone at Eastlake Golf Club.

Course Sponsorship

Members will no doubt have noticed our new Hole & Sponsor Signage that has recently been erected around the course. This initiative allows sponsors to advertise their business to the more than 60,000 members and guests who visit our course each year. Sponsor's signs will feature prominently directly underneath our new hole signage, ensuring strong visibility throughout the annual sponsorship period.

The cost to become a hole sponsor is $5,000, offering an excellent chance to support Eastlake while gaining significant exposure to our golfing community. Members interested in this opportunity can find the sponsorship proposal booklet with full details below. To get started or to enquire about the program, simply fill out the form at the back of the booklet and return it to General Manager, Rob Blain, at manager@eastlakegolfclub.com.au.
